"Becoming a model of self-sufficiency. The ability to ground a concept, teaching, or creation firmly into reality. The right balance between emotional and material security. Aligning gifts, skills, and abilities with your higher self. Right relationship with others. Merging resources in a way that allows for your full individual expression"
Coming out of the 1st house where there was a need for absolute freedom to explore and experience everything you could get your hands on, we move to the 2nd house where the desire is to ground your talents, gifts, skills, and abilities into this reality. Achieving material security. Surrounding yourself with things that are supportive and sustaining. Ultimately, being able to join and merge with opportunities and others who are supportive/self-sufficient. A "joining of forces" in order to contribute to society. If you are familiar with the Tarot, I see Pluto in the 2nd as "9 of cups" energy. (Pic from the Light Seer's Tarot. Click on the pic to visit the site).
In other lifetimes, you may have experienced an imbalance in this area. Think of busting your ass at a job that you didn't like, just making enough to scrape by. Or maybe you were born into wealth, living in a mansion up on a hillside where you really had no need to lift a finger. Life was easy…although there always seemed to be something missing. Maybe experiencing low self-esteem or a fear of not having enough material goods. It's possible you carry underlying feelings associated with these scenarios into this lifetime. Thoughts that don't fully line up with the reality of your current circumstances.
With this desire to really tap into your own resources, solitude may be something you experience at periods in this life. That solitude manifests either on your own accord or seemingly from circumstances or others you were closely connected to.
This alone time is a necessary "recalibration" as part of this self-empowerment journey. Giving you the needed space to reflect on past experiences and make any necessary adjustments to your self-concept.
The 2nd house also relates to the "survival of the species". Meaning, with Pluto here, is an indicator of a strong sexual nature. Recognizing that sexual energy is going to be an important part of your experience and this energetic release is important to honor. Even if in a committed relationship, you may still have a strong urge to masturbate. Partnering with someone who understands and accepts this will be needed. It's also important to honor the cues from your body when attracted to someone. On the surface, you may be aroused and respond but something within "feels off" or you are unsettled.
With Pluto here, a sexual imbalance can be experienced. Think of expressing sexual energy as a means to make you feel empowered, equating it to a sense of security or attributing it to emotional fulfillment. The evolutionary path here is emotional vulnerability. Feeling safe to open up. Shifting your energic expression to allow a deep connection with another which expands consciousness (think tantric yoga).
The 8th house is the polarity point, meaning that merging with others is an experience that your soul is looking to navigate. This may bring intense internal (and external) exchanges. These experiences help you uncover anything that is clouding full personal realization. Your unique gifts, skills, and abilities will attract people and situations that will reflect any imbalance in bringing this forward in relationship to others or society. Paving the way to refine the ways in which they are expressed. It's possible that "blockage" or isolation may occur which allows for reflection, understanding, and adjustments. It's important to understand that anything triggering or emotionally impactful within relationships has the purpose of helping you reclaim more of yourself. Parts that need to be integrated so you can evolve.
Let's use a scenario where you discover you carry within the ability to "unlock" others who are sexually repressed. You will vibrate a frequency that will naturally attract those that are vibrating "I need someone to help unlock my sexuality". So, you meet another carrying the "please unlock me" frequency and engage in a relationship where both of you become emotionally attached to one another. Once the projected need is fulfilled (i.e., you've unlocked their sexuality), the energy may shift which leads to a parting of ways. Reflection on this experience can help to develop the awareness between those coming to you for healing vs. those coming to you, for you.
With this placement, you may also be vibrating…"I need help in being able to realize my own personal resources so I can support myself" or "I can help you develop your own personal resources so you can support yourself". Again, recognizing projection and establishing right relationship is the evolutionary intent here.
Since grounding and stability are a focus for your soul, once you feel like you're in a good place or situation, you'll definitely want to stay there. Think of other lifetimes where maybe things were often unstable or where there was a lot of stability. Since your soul still carries those experiences, it would make perfect sense in this life to "hold on tight" to anything that offers comfort and stability. Either it was elusive or well known. When it is time for you to move forward, you may find that intense and powerful people or situations come in to shake up the energy.
The polarity energy to embrace here is Scorpio/8th house. Opening up and "going deep" in relationships in order to learn more about who you are. Intimacy with others. Merging resources. Balanced energy exchanges. Finding that perfect blend between comfort, stability, and purpose.
